Quantitative trait locus analysis of cucumber fruit texture using double‐digest restriction‐site‐associated DNA sequencing

چکیده
Fruit firmness and crispness are important traits of cucumber because they directly affect its commercial value. We performed quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis these fruit texture with the double-digest restriction-site-associated DNA sequencing (ddRAD-Seq) technique detected 31 QTLs for firmness: 11 placenta firmness, 12 skin 8 flesh firmness; 25 crispness-related scores: 10 index, apparent fractal dimension by Richardson plot, 7 box-counting (Kolmogorov’s dimension). Several associated located near regions length, diameter, length-to-diameter ratio, resistance to powdery mildew downy mildew, indicating that gene linkage is likely limit breeding efficiency. Our results will contribute development informative markers closely linked genes desirable required effective selection new cultivars.

Alcoholism is a quantitative disorder that is caused by the combined influences of numerous genes (i.e., quantitative trait loci [QTLs]) and environmental factors. To identify QTLs for alcoholism, researchers compare subject groups (e.g., inbred mouse strains) that differ in both their genetic makeup (i.e., genotype) and alcohol-related trait (e.g., sensitivity to certain alcohol effects). Usin...

Coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) infection is the most common cause of viral myocarditis. The pathogenesis of viral myocarditis is strongly controlled by host genetic factors. Although certain indispensable components of immunity have been identified, the genes and pathways underlying natural variation between individuals remain unclear. Previously, we isolated the viral myocarditis susceptibility 1 (V...
متن کاملInheritance and quantitative trait locus analysis of low-light tolerance in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.).
The low-light tolerance index was investigated in a set of 123 F2:3 lines during the seedling stage across 2 seasons, and the heredity of low-light tolerance was assessed via different ge-netic analysis methods. The results of the classical analysis showed that low-light tolerance is controlled by an additive-dominant poly-gene, and the polygenic inheritance rate of separate generations was >30...
متن کاملQuantitative trait analysis in sequencing studies under trait-dependent sampling.
It is not economically feasible to sequence all study subjects in a large cohort. A cost-effective strategy is to sequence only the subjects with the extreme values of a quantitative trait. In the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute Exome Sequencing Project, subjects with the highest or lowest values of body mass index, LDL, or blood pressure were selected for whole-exome sequencing. Fail...
متن کاملQuantitative trait locus analysis of longitudinal quantitative trait data in complex pedigrees.
There is currently considerable interest in genetic analysis of quantitative traits such as blood pressure and body mass index. Despite the fact that these traits change throughout life they are commonly analyzed only at a single time point. The genetic basis of such traits can be better understood by collecting and effectively analyzing longitudinal data. Analyses of these data are complicated...
